I have to say that I am blown away by the love you have all shown me. I am not going to lie, to put up a makeup free pic is somewhat unnerving at first! You never know the response you might get. I have constantly been compared to my costar and always told I was the “cute” one, which was basically the the nice way of saying the not so beautiful one. Though this hurt at first, I turned it around. I accepted who I was, flaws and all. I didn’t need anyone to tell me I am pretty or beautiful or anything for that matter. All that I care about is that I am kind, gracious, and grateful, that I am a good person, those are the qualities that matter most. Those are the qualities that make someone beautiful in my mind.
Though I love to get all dolled up and I do love my lashes, I have to say that most of my days are spent without a stitch of makeup and usually with my hair up in a ponytail. Most days I am lucky if I even managed a shower, I know I am no different than the next mom, the only difference is most think I am different because I’m a so called “Celebrity”. I just want to be honest, I have been blessed to have an awesome job that has brought me into the lives of millions, but don’t be fooled, I’m just like the rest of you. I have my bad days and some days I definitely don’t feel beautiful. But being a mother I have realized I have a new mission, to teach my daughter that you don’t need makeup to be beautiful and to teach my son to see a women’s true beauty is in her heart.
I have always made it my mission to spread kindness and love! To treat everyone I come into contact with, with a smile and if I see that someone is having a bad day to try to turn that around. Michael and I have made it a priority to teach our children manners, respect, and kindness. I want our children to see that beauty has nothing to do with what is on the surface but all about what is in someone’s heart. I also want to teach them confidence in who they are, not for what they think they should be. I am me and I will never be anyone else and you know what, thats cool! I love my wrinkles, I like to think of them as my wisdom lines. I am perfectly imperfect and you know what that is pretty awesome because there is no one else exactly like me and that is a gift. That is what we teach our children.
So this is me. And I love the idea of sharing who we are, behind the mask. Celebrate each and everyones true beauty. I know we all look up to celebrities and wish to be like them but know that we are all human, and please do not hold yourself up to these images where we literally have teams of people to dress us, do our hair, and our makeup. So give yourself a break and please don’t ever hold yourself to unrealistic standards. Like a very wise man told me, BE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER AND MORE IMPORTANTLY BE NICE TO YOURSELF.

I Loved to read this article !I t’s true that it hurts when we are told that we are cute, because we know that we are not “beautiful”. But as you say, the inner qualities are more important. Thank you for reminding us

Beauty from the inside, far outweighs beauty from the outside and I think you have both!! You are the most beautiful when you have no makeup and are fulfilling the most awesome role a woman can have ……being mommy! You are far above cute, you are gorgeous!

you know what you are perfectly right. I have always compared myself to my friends. I have always been called the ugly one. It has taken me a long time to not compare myself to others. That is why I never post pictures of myself my facebook page. Thank you for posting this.

I think this post details exactly why you’re different from most “Celebrities.” Not all, there are good celebrities out there but unfortunately the status quo is typically the opposite. You’re so “normal” and someone we can all relate with. You are REAL and nice and kind. Keep it up!

Beverley, I love your honesty in this post!! Thank you for being willing to share your “true self” with the world! I’m thrilled to hear that you and Michael are raising your kids to be “real” and have manners. So many kids that do have celebrities for parents don’t seem to understand what kindness, manners or even caring about a fellow human being means. I always enjoyed watching your character on 7th Heaven, and I love even more how you are in real life and how you welcome your fans into your personal life!! I admire you and what you’re teaching your children!! Keep it up, girl 🙂

What a great post. Your true beauty isn’t on the outside it’s on the inside. (But that doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful on the outside too – even without makeup!)
