For the past few months we have been in Colorado, and frankly, it was a much-needed change. It was nice to breathe in the fresh mountain air, to get out and walk, to have a change of scenery. We have been very isolated through this all and aside from going to the hospital to have Mayzel, we have been home. So being able to be in a different environment has not only been nice but necessary.
Though this time has been tough, in a lot of ways I see it as a blessing. As a family we have grown closer, we have seen so much growth in the kids, and honestly though virtual school has it’s challenges, we have seen the kids thrive with the one on one learning. We have picked up more sports, and slowed down. We have had more dinners at the dinner table than ever before, and it makes me realize how important that is. The conversation we have had with the kids is amazing, to listen to their interpretation of the days, speaking of the highs and lows and what they learned. Even when we feel down because we didn’t do anything it is amazing to hear from them, because they always have something to say.
We miss our friends and family, but taking this small moment in time to be home together and safe is a time I will forever cherish. We will get back to traveling and hanging out soon enough. Until then we will stay safe and stay distant.
What are you doing to stay safe?
