So this was Hutton’s first big birthday, last year I pretty much just added him to Kenzie’s birthday and to be honest, it really was Kenzie’s party but Hutt got a cake. But this year, seeing how aware he was and his excitement surrounding his birthday, I wanted to do something special. I decided to make my theme, Firetrucks, because what little boy doesn’t love a Firetruck. It was such a fun and easy theme. I love all the red, black, and gold!
Being that we are super neat freaks, that immediately takes our home out of the picture and to be honest our house is NOT kid friendly, so I had to find a venue. Lucky for me one of my best friends has an amazing place, AU FUDGE, and along with her help and her amazing team, they made it happen. So that was awesome, I have a venue and along with is FABULOUS food! Next up the cake, I always rely on the incredible POLKATOTS CUPCAKES! I mean and entire cake made of cupcakes so you don’t have to cut it and there are multiple flavors, I mean, can it get any better! Plus Mel made me a bunch of other tasty treats! We had rice crispy treats and chocolate dipped pretzels. I mean, the kids were set! I also saw a few parents sneak out some cupcakes for later, yeah they are that good!
As far as decor, I got some great party decorations from TOMKAT STUDIO and some amazing Firemen hats from ORIENTAL TRADING COMPANY. I also got these amazing fire hydrant cups from Oriental Trading and let me tell you they were a hit and a lifesaver as well. I guarantee we would have had a lot of spills if it hadn’t been for those cups. I also had to get some amazing balloons because it is isn’t a party without balloons!
When it came to our gifts for the kids that came I may have went a bit overboard! I love giving presents so sending each kiddo with something special is always important to me. We got a lunch box for each child from STEPHEN JOSEPH GIFTS and we had MABELS LABELS on each lunch box as well. I also wanted to have fun activities at the party so I contacted my friends at M is For Monster and they created the most amazing little bag for each child, we had a touch and feel Firetruck book and two activities, PUT THE FIRE OUT AND COUNTING FIRE BALLS! Each bag had the Childs name and I love that it had fun learning activities for the kids to play. We also had placemats made for each child from ARLA CREATIONS and these were a huge hit. I think most parents were in a bit of shock heading out with all the gifts for their children but that might be my favorite part.
I also have to mention the adorable shirt Hutt wore for his birthday because I am a little obsessed, I got it on ETSY after scouring my options, I fell in love with this tee from TOLUNI. I mean, it is seriously the cutest and I guarantee Hutt will be wearing this all year.
I also have to say I made one very important decision on this crazy hectic party day, I had my girl Ashley from ASHLEY BURNS PHOTOGRAPHY come by the house first to take family pictures. You know I am a sucker for having everything documented so I had her come to the house and we got all our family pictures out of the way so once I got to AU FUDGE I was in full party mode and didn’t have to worry if I got all the shots I wanted. Plus I got some amazing pictures with the grandparents minus all the craziness and chaos. And we got a super cute family pic! SO BONUS!
The party was a huge hit and it seems that all the kids loved it and so did the parents. That is the tough part, it was nice that the parents were able to connect and catch up while the kids played in the dollhouse, did art projects, or played with the trucks. There was so much for the to do and to see all the friendships naturally form between kids of all ages was truly a gift. Kenzie befriend Rennix and now they are best buddies, despite the 3 year age difference. Hutt loved the attention and was the life of the party, he pretty much interacted with any child he could find and it was so fun to sit back and let the kids be kids.
So needless to say Hutton’s birthday was a hit and on the way home he said, “Mommy, I had fun!”. Though it was a ton of work! Big thanks to my girl, Casi at CUPCAKE MAG and Chrissy from GOOD CARMA STUDIO for helping me pull it all together. You ladies make me look real good and couldn’t be more grateful for all your help and friendship.
