I often get asked if I would ever let my children go into the business, and I have always had the same reaction, I didn’t turn out that bad. I certainly am not going to push them into this crazy world but if it is something they want to do, I certainly am not going to hold them back. Like any parents we want to give our children the opportunity to follow any and all of their dreams.
That being said, both of my kiddos are hams but especially Kenz. She already has a clear love of being in front of the camera, and has no problem with memorization. She lights up in front of the camera and has a comfort level that could not be taught. I see a lot of me in her and who knows, I started acting at the young age of 4 and not once did I question that it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Yep, I knew that early, I never wanted to be anything other than an actress!Obviously this is a serious conversation Michael and I have to have, I can honestly say that with strong parents and good perspective “The Business” is just fine to grow up in. I always had a choice and I knew it, I always choose to work because I loved it. It was something I was good at, some kids are good at sports, I was good at pretending. I loved meeting new people, I loved to perform, it is part of my makeup, so if by chance our children have the same interest I will support them 100%. But there is one rule, the moment they think they are better than anyone else, they are out and will be brought back to reality real quick. It is essential when working in this industry to keep your head on straight, I was not necessarily the best actress but I was the one that got the opportunity and I worked my butt off. I never gave anyone else a chance to take it away because no matter what I always showed up and worked harder than anyone else. That is what made me different! That’s why I have had a career for over 30 years and will continue to work hard and earn my place. These are the qualities we will instill in our children in whatever they choose for their lives!

Thank you for this! My daughter is 2 and just booked her 1st part on a TV series that is shot here in Baltimore. It happened by chance, and we have been very nervous about it and want to make sure that she gets a normal childhood should she continue in this business.

I have always been an avid fan of 7th Heaven and must admit Lucy was my favorite. From Jimmy Moon to marrying Kevin and becoming a minister, each episode was better than the previous. I now watch the reruns during my lunchbreak! You are a wonderful actress. Thank you for this blog and keeping us up to date on your life. Your daughter is so beautiful. You look beyond happy! Wishing you continued success in all you do. Sincerely, Annette Lucas
