Yesterday, we said goodbye to our dearest Bentley. Though she had been having a tough few days, I still must say it was unexpected! I was not prepared because honestly, I had no control over. When both our other dogs passed, we put them down to end their suffering, but with Bentley she was different, she did it her way. You see, Bentley was the toughest and most stoic dog I have ever met! Two year ago she went from a perfectly healthy dog to not being able to walk, we found out she had bone cancer and we had to amputate her hind leg. We didn’t know how she would do, but we didn’t want to give up on her! She acted like she didn’t know it was gone! A year later she developed a tumor on her paw in between her toes, it was so painful and so large we were faced with another tough decision and amputate her two toes! So now she only has two good legs and one leg with only two toes, but still, she powered on! This dog had three full rounds of chemo and more obstacles than most! But yesterday she was done and her first opportunity to go on her own she took! I knew she was not herself so I called out angel of a groomer Jessica to come clean her up to make her feel better! I always feel better when I am all fresh! But while she is in the van she took her final breath; you see that’s Bentley, she didn’t want to do it in the house, in front of the kids. She took the opportunity, when she was on her own. They say dogs hold on for their owners and I certainly think that is true, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye! We put up a fight, and we won two extra years with her, but selfishly, I wanted more!
Bentley, we miss you terribly! You were the best dog, and we will always love you! My heart is broken! We all loved you so much, and there is a hole in our family! Thank you for the memories, for the wet kisses, and your unconditional love! They don’t get much better than you!

I’m so unbelievably sorry for your and your family’s loss. Our cat Sammy passed away about 6 years ago. He was standing on my bed looking at me and exactly like a rag doll he just feel over. I ran to wake up my parents and my dad came and explained how he had had a stroke. I stayed with him throughout the night and the next morning we took him to the vet. He had suffered a stoke they informed us. It was a hard hit but now we have two cats Buddy, a huge ball of fluff about 4 years old who will literally tolerate ANYTHING- he can be relaxing in the sun and he will allow me to just completely bury my face into his fur and we’ll fall asleep together. Even when he gets angry he doesn’t really, just this morning I was petting him and he had had enough and he gave me the lightest nip of my hand with his mouth to let me know to stop. Buster, on that other hand, is about a year and half old, almost two, and he drives me up the wall. He LOVES to throw himself in front of my bedroom door and claw at the carpet. I first thought he did it to be let out but that wasn’t the case. The entire entry way of carpet to my room is completely shot from him constantly sinking his claws into it. Also he LOVES to go out the OPPOSITE door of the one you opened. On the other side of the room. They’re completely opposites but I love them both my heart could burst. I’m so sorry for your and your family’s loss. I’ll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. XX

I def. agree, I get teared up still when I read stories like this, I have said good-bye to all of my pets and it was hard losing the last one, had her for 11 years and was lucky to have her that long, she was old in dog years and she was my family’s favorite pet and we are not getting any other ones!

So this is where we part, My Friend, And you’ll run on, around the bend. Gone from sight, but not from mind, new pleasures there you’ll surely find.
I will go on; I’ll find the strength, Life measures quality, not its length. One long embrace before you leave, Share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true, But they be they, and they aren’t you. And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought, Will remember well all you’ve taught.
Your place I’ll hold, you will be missed, The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed. And as you journey to your final rest, Take with you this…I loved you best.
