SHOP SMALL SPOTLIGHT: HIGHWAY 3

I am a sucker for Blankets, and what’s better than a cute blanket with your kids name on it. Kenzie loves her blanket, she even steals Hutton’s blanket for her dolls. These are great for gifts too. SO today I wanted to spotlight HIGHWAY 3 for my shop small spotlight. So meet these rad chicks!
We are sisters, Erin & Trisha, who grew up on the blacktop of Highway 3 in a SMALL Kansas town (pop. 300).  We often get mistaken for each other, and sometimes just play it off like we are the other sister.  We have crossed many entrepreneurial paths over the past 5 years, when we quit our day jobs from our family owned banking business, to expand our creative mojo.  From our photography (NV Photo), interior & graphic design, and owning a small boutique, we have always used inspiration from our wild & crazy kids (all SEVEN of them) to keep coming up with new bold and modern designs.
WHAT MADE YOU START YOUR BUSINESS?
The idea for Highway 3 came about when Erin’s last baby (Lev) was born in October, 2014.  Trisha had designed a custom name blanket for him to match Erin’s modern nursery design.  It turned out awesome, and our friends who saw it on social media wanted to know where we got it.  In turn, we did our homework, and we can now answer with Highway3. Lev (now 2 1/2) is our number one fan, and thinks any and all Highway 3 blankets he sees are HIS, no matter who’s name is on them.  If he could explain his love for them, he would make a great promoter. 🙂 

WHAT DOES BEING A SMALL SHOP MEAN TO YOU?

There is something to be said for the small shop community, and the hard work and dedication that goes into making a successful business.  We love connecting with other shop owners and bloggers on a personal level to help promote each other, or even reach out for advice.  Being a small shop also means directly communicating with our customers and sharing a little about our personal lives.  We have “met” some great customers, and love being able to stay in touch, both as a business owners and as everyday moms.  

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCT YOU SELL?

Our blankets are our favorite, and most popular for sure!  They are extremely soft and usually have parents trying to steal their own kids’, or so we’ve heard. 🙂  We love the fact that they are great for all ages, great size options, and can add a personal touch to any modern space.  We use these for all gift occasions and they are always the hit of the party!
