I couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to Colleen and Colleen of MAMA SAID TEES, two incredible women spreading kindness and love one day at a time. I am inspired by their message and absolutely adore them. Check out these adorable tees and help spread the love. They are some of my favorite tees for the kiddos and I of course love the adult collection too.
Meet Colleen and Colleen of Mama Said Tees Some Awesome Mama changing the world one tee at a time!
WHAT MADE YOU START YOUR BUSINESS?
The idea came to us when both of our oldest kids were about a year old and we were buying
clothes from small shops for our babies. We wanted to design apparel encouraging kids to be
who they are. We wanted something empowering, something about acceptance. We thought
long and hard about where kids learn about being kind and being true to themselves and it
starts at home; thus, the name Mama Said Tees. If our children were going to walk around
spreading a message, we believed that it should be one that people could read and use as a
reminder to smile, be kind and love one another! We were brand new moms and this was the
hope for our own children, why not share it with the rest of the world! Little did we know that
our passion in the beginning would turn into an unstoppable mission to make a difference in
the world we live in.
WHAT DOES BEING A SMALL SHOP MEAN TO YOU?
We never truly knew what being a small business meant until diving headfirst into Mama Said
Tees. We shopped small, we loved supporting small businesses, but had no idea what the
behind the scenes really meant. Small business owners wear every hat you can think of from
selling, ordering, shipping, marketing, accounting, photography, artwork all the way to the
custodial work and everything in between! We pour our hearts into our business while trying
to balance motherhood and marriage. We have so much more appreciation for all the small
businesses out there. It is a challenge we could have never related to until now, but at the
same time we acknowledge how lucky we are, even on the hardest days.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCT YOU SELL?
While we love everything we sell (because we refuse to sell something we personally wouldn’t
use or wear) our favorite items are our t-shirts. When we see pictures of our customers or
someone walking down the street it brings us so much pride and joy knowing they are
spreading these messages to everyone they come across. We LOVE it when people say “I live in
your tees! They are so comfy!” because we couldn’t agree more. They are comfortable while
simultaneously spreading positive messages wherever they are worn. There is nothing cooler.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?
When we started Mama Said Tees we had hopes and dreams, but those hopes and dreams pale
in comparison to our vision and passion today. Five days after we “opened” our shop, Colleen
Stine’s sister was killed in an unthinkable tragedy, leaving her two nephews without parents.
You can learn more about out story HERE. But going through the unimaginable only provoked
us to spread kindness more to prove that love and love alone wins. Colleen’s sister embodied
kindness, she was a school teacher who was the backbone of Colleen latching this company.
She loved the idea, she supported her vision and she was her biggest cheerleader. Colleen
believes her sister’s legacy lives on through Mama Said Tees. Though the short 3 years we have
been in business, we have seen first-hand what our mission has been able to do for others. We
have helped make someone feel like their version of normal is amazing, we have watched as
people bravely stood up for each other and for what they know is right. We have read stories
about why people don’t feel alone anymore because they are a part of our Mama Said Tees
family. Days get hard and long when growing a business, but the reward is unparalleled. It only motivates us more every day. Each person we can reach is an opportunity to spark kindness,
and just like a boomerang, kindness always makes its way back. We are so proud of what we
have accomplished, but we are beyond excited for where we will go!
PERSONAL TOUCH
Nowadays it seems as though kindness is “trending” and we aren’t settling for that. We don’t
want people to say “kind is the new cool”, we want them to LIVE “kind is the new cool”. We
want them to think of Mama Said Tees as a safe place to get kindness tips, hear stories from
others and find some good messages to spread around the world. We want everyone to gain
something from our company regardless of if they purchase anything. We want them to leave
kinder. We “met” online as 2 moms who share the same name. We stand here today as 2
moms who share a great big kindness empire that is changing the world.
