Having just put our dear Chico down not that long ago, we are still healing and recovering from the loss, but again we got some bad news. Our sweetest girl, Bentley (our golden retriever) has been diagnosed with Cancer and actually has to have her leg amputated TODAY. My heart is still broken from Chico and it is breaking again, you see our first dog Tucker, a golden retriever as well, had cancer and we fought it, we went through Chemo for over a year and it broke our hearts when he passed, so to go through this process again is a lot and not sure if I can take it again. Losing Tucker nearly broke me. And now with the kids, it is even harder. The kids love the dogs more than anything, and they are still trying to understand that Chico is no longer here and now I am going to have to explain that Bentley is going to go in to the Doctor with 4 legs and come out with only 3, and I can’t even fathom having the bad conversation when the inevitable happens. We are praying to get more time with her, but it will be a tough road. Bentley is going to have to learn how to handle herself on 3 legs. I just feel so bad! Our pets are our family and right now our family is a little brokenhearted.
These are pics we took before we knew about Bentley and I am just so glad we have them.

So today we send love, light, and prayers to Bentley for her big surgery, we will love her and shower her with healing vibes, hugs, kisses, pets, and treats. And we are also sending love to all those who are fighting the good fight against Cancer, both in human and in our dear animals. To all our loved ones fighting Cancer, we are with you.

You will get though this, Bev. It’s extremely hard losing a pet since they are family to us. But you are such a positive person that you will find a way to handle it. It’s times like these that you realize how important people (and animals!) are in our lives, so maybe this is just a reminder to never take anything we are blessed with, for granted. Lots of love to you and your family, xo.

I don’t know what type of cancer your dog has but I had a cat who had to have one of his back legs amputated due to a huge tumor. He did have to adjust and build up strength in that remaining leg but he did great and lived another 6 years. One thing my cat really enjoyed was me massaging along his spine since he would stand with it crooked with only one back leg. Also, my cats leg was removed at the hip so he had muscle spasms due to nerve damage but this quit after a year.

Beverly, I’m so sorry for what you and your sweet family are going through. We lost our 12 yr old Yorkie, Max, last May to cancer. We rescued our sweet Yorkie, Scarlett, a year ago only now to discover she has mast cell tumors. My heart aches for her and all the sweet fur babies suffering with this horrible disease. You are in our prayers❤️🙏

🙁 I hope everything goes well with the surgery! It’s so hard to see pets be sick and knowing they have. I idea what’s going on. Our dog had pneumonia and part of his treatment involved coupaging which was essentially us hitting him with cupped hands by his lungs to help break up the mucous. I am pretty sure he thought he was being punished.

My sweet golden retriever, Daisy, just celebrated one year since her amputation. It took her a few weeks to get comfortable with her balance, but she’s doing so well! Dogs are amazing and resilient. Next week is our one year check up, and we’re hoping she’s still in remission. Keep your chin up and spoil that girl with love and healthy foods!

I’m guessing Bentley will do great in 3 legs!!! My Chloe Grace just celebrated 2yrs post amputation at the end of July! She’s a 160lb Mastiff. Even though she’s a big girl she can do most things by herself now, it’s a front leg amputation; but stairs can be a challenge if she’s unfamiliar with them.. She had cancer (bone) and underwent chemo after her amputation. Thankfully things are going well and they haven’t seen any evidence of the cancer spreading! I am so thankful to still have her here.
The kids didn’t want her to have the amputation (5, 7 and 10 at the time) but once they knew it was to help her live longer they were ok with it and now it’s just the norm but they also know she has some different limitations. My thoughts are with you all!!
